Whoa. Aluminum, oled, a hundred twenty hertz, for nine hundred bucks? Sure. Now find the part where you can actually buy one. It's the Asus ExpertBook A7, now 899.99 dollars, for office workers and students on a budget. This is Tech After Dark. We read five reports. Zero hands touched. New thing one: it's four hundred dollars cheaper than the launch model! About thirty percent off. Same body, same screen.

Less inside. Thing two: real metal! An aluminum unibody on a cheaper ExpertBook. Those used to be plastic. Notebookcheck compares this one to a MacBook. Thing three: a matte 120 hertz oled. Deep blacks, less glare. Raccoon heaven. It redraws 120 times a second, so scrolling's smooth. And matte should help near a window. Bonus: a glass haptic touchpad, like a MacBook's. Same click anywhere you press.

Now specs. Twelve gigs of memory, soldered. Fine for browsing and documents, never upgradable. Never? Not even if I, borrow some R A M? Not even then. And 256 gigs of storage. Apps and docs, yes. Your photo library, no. But the battery! Sixty-five watt-hours. Asus says up to twenty-S I X hours! Of video playback, in a lab. It also starts at 1.2 kilos. About MacBook Air light. Okay, so what did actual reviewers find?

Noobfeed's Core 7 unit ran over seventeen hours in an office test, and barely drained asleep. It sleeps better than I do! 'Really outstanding,' says Noobfeed. Noobfeed also found sharp edges, no Thunderbolt, and shaky frame rates in games. Sharp edges? Okay, that stings. Literally. Notebookcheck says the chip is efficient but slow: best for everyday office tasks, not heavy multitasking. Wait. And this cheaper one has less memory?

Yep. Notebookcheck said that about the sixteen-gig model. Fine! 899.99 dollars on the Asus U S store. Where's the cart? Nova's Catch: it was out of stock. Ubergizmo had said January 2027. So I can't even borrow one. Typical. And the discount is the specs. Less R A M, less storage, Core 5 only. No Thunderbolt either. Versus the MacBook Air M5! The A7's oled runs 120 hertz. The Air? Sixty. The Air costs 200 dollars more, but starts at 512 gigs and lasted over eighteen hours in Macworld's video test.

And the pricier A7? Sixteen gigs and 512 for 1,299.99 dollars. Four hundred more for memory you can't add later. Honestly? Worth thinking about. Verdict! Gorgeous screen, metal body, huge battery. Seven point six from me! Six point two. Lovely laptop, thin specs, and you can't buy it yet. Wait. That's a 6.9 After Dark Score. Third in laptops, right under the iPad mini A20 Pro. Paws off the store page, Rocco.

See you next time.
